Good afternoon,

I hope you are well. Time is definitely running out to book an Early Bird place at Dr. Cathy Malchiodi’s upcoming training. There are currently 5 places remaining at this rate and the extra discounted rate is only available until this Thursday 7th March! On Sunday the 7th April 2024, Cathy will deliver an intensive one-day training in the Castletroy Park Hotel, Limerick. This incredible workshop, facilitated by world renowned expert, Dr. Cathy Malchiodi, will take participants on an insightful journey into the practice of Restorative Attachment™ (Malchiodi, 2022). Restorative Attachment™ (Malchiodi, 2022) is grounded in research, and action-based practices found in expressive arts therapy that can be applied to restoring and building a foundational attachment with caregiver and child. Cathy's model is a purposeful and integrative form of psychotherapy that utilizes a combination of movement, rhythm, enactment, image making, synchrony, and narrative. In other words, it is key that each approach include multiple sensory experiences to capture reparative and restorative moments between children and caregivers. The restorative attachment model emphasises the S.A.G.E. Model – how Synchrony, Attunement, Grounding, and Engagement are enhanced by the integrative approaches found in expressive arts therapy.

We have a very special early bird rate available so don’t delay - book today. The early bird really does catch the worm!

Castletroy Park Hotel, Limerick Sunday 7th April 2024

This incredible workshop, facilitated by world renowned expert, Dr. Cathy Malchiodi, will take participants on an insightful journey into the practice of Restorative Attachment™ (Malchiodi, 2022). Restorative Attachment™ (Malchiodi, 2022) is grounded in research, and action-based practices found in expressive arts therapy that can be applied to restoring and building a foundational attachment with caregiver and child. Expressive Arts Therapy is not a set of various arts or play activities; it is a purposeful and integrative form of psychotherapy that utilizes a combination of movement, rhythm, enactment, image making, synchrony, and narrative. In other words, it is key that each approach include multiple sensory experiences to capture reparative and restorative moments between children and caregivers. The emphasis is on the S.A.G.E. Model – how Synchrony, Attunement, Grounding, and Engagement are enhanced by the integrative approaches found in expressive arts therapy.

During this one-day training we will explore:
  • Restorative Attachment™-- approaches that capitalize on the senses and sensory processing to help enhance healthy relationships and co-regulation between parents and children.
  • Mindful expressive arts therapy practices that integrate the senses and expressive approaches through co-regulated relationships between caregivers and young people.
  • An emphasis on body-awareness to help therapists, caregivers, and children use sensory integration techniques and expressive arts for attunement, attachment, and co-regulation-- approaches that support caregivers and enhance children's ability to express the "felt sense" of their experiences.
  • Special topics including trauma, loss, disaster relief, developmental trauma, neurodiversity, and social justice and how we can support capacity, resilience, and restoration via expressive arts.
This intensive day includes lecture, short films, and a series of hands-on approaches so that practitioners (therapists, educators, coaches, and facilitators) can apply and adapt learning to a variety of settings.

Suitable for: This training is suitable for a range of professionals working therapeutically with children, adolescents, and/or adults. This includes, but is not limited to, trainee and qualified creative arts therapists, play therapists, counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists, working within the range of psychotherapeutic modalities including humanistic, integrative, systemic, psychoanalytic, cognitive behavioural, and constructivist.
