CTC Professional Certificate in Creative Care
Creating Joy in Social Care Settings
Starting 14th March 2024

This blended learning course will be ideal for all those working in social care settings who wish to bring fun and creativity into the lives of services users whether they are children, adolescents or adults. Imagine a childcare setting, residential unit, daycare facility, special needs unit, or mental health setting where everyone can laugh, connect, be actively engaged and have fun regardless of whether they are of pre-school age or in their nineties! A place where music, dance, art, drama, and games are used to enrich lives and promote emotional health and wellbeing. Don’t know where to start to achieve this? Well, the good news is that this course will be the ideal launch pad.

You will experience a wide range of activities that you can use and adapt for your own work setting. You will feel the power of creativity in enriching your day, improving your mood, and building and sustaining relationships. The neurobiological power of play in relieving stress and enabling appropriate regulation will benefit your clients and enrich your work environment.

Panksepp (1998:283) has helped us to understand how play and creativity inhibits the generalized activation of the survival system and allows for calmness, regulation and interpersonal connection. This facilitates us in gaining empowerment over difficult emotions, sensations and memories. Schaefer and Drewes (2014) have elaborated on the multiple therapeutic powers that are activated for all ages when engaged in playful activities. What a way to bring about a better quality of life for both service users and staff! Come and join this movement to create joy in social care settings.
