Hi reader,

I hope all is well. We have been blown away by the incredible response we have received to Linda Homeyer’s upcoming International Sandtray training event in Limerick this June, it is definitely shaping up to be a truly phenomenal experience. Our extra special “Early Early Bird” rate has proven very popular and we are really happy that we could facilitate so many who wanted to avail of this price by increasing the amount of places available at the discounted rate. But it is almost time to let that rate go, this extra special reduced rate is coming to an end so if you do want to avail of it you definitely have to book your spot by the 1st February!

Taking a Trauma and Developmentally Informed Approach
to
Sandtray Therapy with Children, Adolescents and Adults

Dr. Linda E. Homeyer, PhD, LPC-S, RPT-STM

Day 1:
Sandtray Therapy 101 for all ages: Basics and beyond for Play Therapists, Counsellors and Psychotherapists

This training will provide the historical context for sandtray therapy; how to integrate sand tray work into the therapeutic milieu and play therapy/counseling theory; developmental considerations; the brain’s response to, and use of, work in the sand tray. We will cover understanding the underlying principles of selecting the materials needed to set-up a sandtray therapy room, including rationale of categories of miniature figures, variety of sizes and shapes of sand trays, managing the use of water, etc. Also discussed will be a protocol for a sandtray session. Several activities will be built into the day to provide the critical component of any experiential therapy training: the clinician’s actual experience of activities they will use with their clients so they will know how it feels for the client to use the media.

Day 2:

Sandtray Therapy 102: Processing Sandtrays: An Adventure for Play Therapists, Counsellors and Psychotherapists
This second day builds on the basic information from the previous day and incorporates trauma focused considerations. This interactive day will provide guidelines for the integration of Sandtray Therapy with a range of approaches, techniques and populations. Focus to the day will be the session protocol introduced in Day One, especially on how to process the completed sandtray with the client. A discussion of figure-play and its use with clients will be explored and practiced. Examples of child and adult work in the sand tray will be provided including pictures of trays. Participants will explore the work they are currently doing and how they might enrich it for their clients and progress in therapy to reach treatment goals. A sample session documentation form will be provided.

Suitable for:
This training is suitable for a range of professionals working therapeutically with children, adolescents, and/or adults. This includes, but is not limited to, trainee and qualified play therapists, counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists, working within the range of psychotherapeutic modalities including humanistic, integrative, systemic, psychoanalytic, cognitive behavioural, and constructivist.
