This 3-hour live on workshop is designed to enhance your understanding of attachment theory and its application within Play Therapy. Through an exploration of attachment theory, you will learn how different attachment strategies manifest in therapy, offering insights into creating secure and supportive therapeutic environments. This course focuses on practical approaches to understanding and working with children’s attachment needs, equipping you with tools to foster healing and development through play. Ideal for therapists, this course empowers you to implement attachment-informed approaches that create lasting positive change.
Learning Objectives:
⦁ To further understand Attachment Theory and how attachment strategies present in the therapeutic environment, relationship and play.
⦁ Develop practical skills for identifying and working with different attachment strategies in Play Therapy.
⦁ Learn to create a secure and predictable therapeutic space that fosters attachment and emotional growth in children.

• A computer/device with a camera – you will be asked to keep your camera on during the session

Facilitator:
Sonia Murray holds a Diploma in Social Work and is a BAPT registered Play Therapist. She has thirty years of experience as a practitioner in the fields of child abuse, social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, children’s mental health, childhood trauma, parenting programmes and Play Therapy. Sonia trains nationally and internationally on topics related to Play Therapy, understanding behaviour, play, communicating with children, behaviour management, positive parenting. Her work history includes employment as a childcare Social Worker, parent worker, Play Therapist in Education and Social Care and Health settings. Sonia provides consultation, supervision and training in both statutory and voluntary fields of children and young people’s services. Sonia has also contributed to a number of publications, including The Use of Therapeutic Stories.
Sonia serves on the Board of Directors for British Association of Play Therapists and has been in a variety of capacities including Treasurer and chair of Business and Research sub-committees. Sonia is passionate about understanding children and young people and gains so much from supporting and advising others who are wanting to develop children, young people and families’ lives.

(Note: Play therapy credit will not be awarded to non-mental health professionals.)
Cancellations: In the event of any cancellation a booking fee of €30 will be retained. Full fee is non refundable in the event of cancellations within 3 weeks of the event.
