
Eileen is CTC’s Director of Academic Affairs and a core member of the staff team for the MA in Creative Psychotherapy, the Postgraduate Diploma in Play Therapy, and our Professional Training Programmes. Eileen has worked with children for over thirty-five years and now specialises in the field of play therapy and psychotherapy training. She presents regularly at international training events. Eileen has trained and worked in the fields of pre-school education, intellectual disability and child psychiatry, she has particular expertise in working with issues of child sexual abuse with both child and adult clients. Eileen holds qualifications in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy, Jungian Sand Play Therapy, Biodynamic Psychotherapy and Family Law. She was a founder member of the Children at Risk in Ireland Foundation and was their National Clinical Director until 2004. She is a psychotherapist, play therapist, supervisor, author, and teacher. With Justine Howard, Eileen co-edited Play Therapy Today: Contemporary practice with individuals, groups, and carers published by Routledge (2014), and their second book, Creative Psychotherapy: Applying the principles of neurobiology to play and expressive arts-based practice, was published in 2016. Eileen and Justine are now working on the 2nd edition of this book. Her 3rd book: Clinical Applications of the Therapeutic Powers of Play was published in 2021. She has also published many chapters, both in these books and in other seminal texts.
