About The Training

This live online course will look at supporting children who find it difficult to leave a parent or carer. It is suitable for parents and carers and also for professionals working with children. It will be particularly beneficial for parents and carers of children who are experiencing difficulties with transitions and separations and for teachers and ECCE practitioners. The webinar will be facilitated by a highly experienced child and adolescent psychotherapists with a specialisation in play therapy.

  • Explore the difference between separation anxiety, anxiety at separating and transition difficulties.
  • Look at the experience for the child, the caregiver and the other adults involved, exploring what will help and support all involved to help the child overcome their difficulty.
  • Explore how to use play to soothe the anxiety, using games and  books therapeutically.
  • Consider targeted interventions which can increase security and safety at times of transitions.

This training is suitable for professionals working with children and/or teenagers. It is also suitable for parents and carers of children and/or teenagers, and anyone interested in play and creative therapeutic approaches.
