Dr Sue Bratton Ph.D., LPC-S, RPT-S will be a guest trainer on this course. With Dr Garry Landreth, Sue is co-author of Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT): An Evidence-Based 10-Session Filial Therapy Model, the CPRT Treatment Manual, and CPRT in Action, a demonstration video illustrating CPRT with adoptive families, as well as two additional contemporary texts, Child-Centered Play Therapy Research and Integrative Play Therapy. We are honoured to have her involvement! Sue is Professor Emerita, University of North Texas, and Director Emerita, UNT Center for Play Therapy with over 30 years of experience as a practitioner, researcher, and teacher. Sue is nationally and internationally known speaker and author with over 100 publications and over 350 professional presentations in the areas of child and family counselling, with a specific focus on Child-Centered Play Therapy and Child-Parent Relationship Therapy/Filial Therapy.
Lisa Gordon Clark BSc (Hons) Psychology, Dip. Play Therapy, BAPT-reg Play Therapist ®, Fellow HEA, was until 2020 a Senior Lecturer on the Play Therapy MA at the University of Roehampton and was the Programme Convener there for a decade. For 12 years she also led the annual 20-week Play Therapy Foundation Course at Roehampton.
Lisa has been trained in CPRT by both Dr Landreth & Dr Bratton. Until 2023 she had her own private Play Therapy practice, PlayFully, based in Wiltshire and remains a BAPT-approved Clinical Supervisor. She is the long-standing editor of the British Journal of Play Therapy and co-edited Becoming and Being a Play Therapist: Play Therapy in Practice (Ayling, Armstrong and Gordon Clark, 2019). Lisa is also the current External Examiner for the Postgraduate Child & Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counselling programme at the University of Cambridge and for the MA in Play Therapy at MTU, Cork, Ireland.
Liz Hancock BA (Hons) Psychology, MSc Play Therapy, BAPT-reg Play Therapist®. Liz trained in CPRT with Lisa Gordon Clark and has run several successful CPRT courses with parents, including those parenting neurodiverse children. Liz’s background is in Children Services: supporting parents/carers and working with children and young people (foster care, adoption, child support and child protection).
Liz currently works for a Domestic Abuse charity and undertakes private work in a children’s club, providing Play Therapy to children. Liz also completed CPRT as a parent and is passionate about giving parents the same opportunities and benefits that she has experienced, so we can have happier and mentally healthier children
Cathy O’Byrne M.I.A.P.T.P, MA Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy and Play Therapy, B.Ed is an experienced and accredited psychotherapist with a specialisation in Play Therapy. She has worked as a teacher, trainer, workshop facilitator and psychotherapist in a variety of settings. Cathy is a part time trainer and subject lead at CTC. She teaches on our Level 9 MA and also our Level 6 Therapeutic Play Skills Certificate course. Cathy worked on the therapeutic team in CARI for many years. During this time, she worked in a systemic manner with children, adolescents, parents and siblings providing specialised child centred psychotherapy and support to families who had been affected by CSA. Cathy now works in her own private practice “The Swallow’s Trail” where she specialises in parent support. Cathy works from an integrative, person centred perspective and endeavours to build strong working relationships with parents/carers using creative approaches to empower parents towards greater awareness and presence in their parenting. Cathy is trained in Filial Therapy and Circle of Security Parent group facilitation. Cathy has also designed and delivered trainings and workshops for parents, teachers and other professionals on the power of play and unconditional positive regard when relating to and working with children.
