IAPTP, the Irish Association of Play Therapy & Psychotherapy, is a professional body for Play Therapists & Psychotherapists in Ireland. Our aim is to define, promote, and maintain professional standards of excellence in Play Therapy & Psychotherapy. Our work promotes best practice and the development of the profession, as well as safeguarding the public by maintaining professional standards for the practice of Play Therapy & Psychotherapy and the accreditation of play therapy practitioners in Ireland. This protects clients, their families, and the profession itself through stringent training and accreditation standards and ethical frameworks.
The Children’s Therapy Centre is our approved training provider for Psychotherapists and Play Therapists. They are the only training organisation to meet our stringent training standards. The 4-year master’s level training programme is of the highest quality, aligning with IAPTP’s focus on ethical and safe practice. The programme achieves a balance between the highest academic and clinical work standards and a humanistic approach to students, without compromising on either aspect.
Our members consistently report extremely high levels of satisfaction with both the training and the Children’s Therapy Centre itself as a course provider. Graduates of the programme are highly recognised and sought after by multiple employers and funders of therapy nationwide for the quality of their work, their high standard of knowledge, and their ethical approach to client work.
There is no doubt that the high standard of training is one of the principal reasons graduates from CTC’s courses display such integrity and competence in their work. This has led to further recognition, including participation in the Department of Education School Counselling Pilot Project, IAPTP becoming the first operating member of the International Consortium of Play Therapy Associations, and IAPTP becoming an accrediting organisation with the European Association for Integrative Psychotherapy. IAPTP is both proud of and privileged in our association with the Children’s Therapy Centre and has no hesitation in fully endorsing them.
