Overview of Content
This reflective and interactive workshop is designed for therapists, counsellors, and other mental health professionals working therapeutically with clients of all ages, who are seeking to deepen their understanding and enhance their therapeutic skills and awareness in addressing the interconnected themes of love, loss and grief across different life stages. Participants will explore the various types and theories of love, loss, and grief, and how these experiences evolve from childhood to older adulthood. Interactive exploration of group experiences and strategies for integrating this knowledge into therapeutic practice, will foster personal and professional growth through self-reflection and dialogue to consolidate learning which aims to provide effective, empathetic, and developmentally appropriate attunement to clients navigating these complex emotional experiences.
Learning Outcomes
- Identify and describe the different types of love, loss, and grief experienced across the life span.
- Explore different theories and lens to support therapeutic interventions tailored to the developmental stage and cultural background of clients.
- Integrate reflective practice into therapeutic work to enhance clients therapeutic experience and enhance professional growth.
- Utilise supervision and the internal supervisor and ongoing professional development to continually refine therapeutic practice.
Suitable For:
This training is suitable for trainee and qualified counsellors, psychotherapists, play therapists, expressive arts therapists, psychologists, and other mental health professionals working within the range of psychotherapeutic modalities with clients of all ages.
All participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance for CPD purposes
Participants are required to have the following tools and materials:
- Notebook, pen and coloured pencils/pens/crayons
- Access to a computer with a stable internet connection and confidentiality
- Reflections on pre-assigned reading /video material
- A candle and lighter
- Group work will require video and audio to be On
- Preferred Creative Material:
- 10 miniatures or random items from nature or household
- Craft materials: Paper, pens, felt-tips, pencils, fabric, magazines, glue, scissors, clay, playdoh,
Facilitator:
Michelle Fahy (MIACP; MEAIP) has worked as a group process facilitator for CTC for eight years and is also a part time trainer and wellbeing coordinator & equality & diversity officer for CTC.
Michelle is experienced and qualified as both a biodynamic and creative psychotherapist, play therapist, group process facilitator ; integrative clinical supervisor and life/wellbeing coach. Michelle also holds an honours B.A. degree, a diploma in Montessori, a higher diploma in education and has also trained in many areas including couple therapy, gender and sexual diversities, neurodiversity and attachment as well as many other facets of training both in Ireland and in the UK.
Michelle works with children, adolescents, adults, couples, families and groups in her own clinical private practice as well as in the community, corporate and training sectors . Michelle has been actively involved in facilitating groups for over 25 years, working with development groups, outreach programs, special needs, positive mental health promotion, and has worked across all facets of the educational system from Montessori to third level. She advocates experiential and creative methodologies in her work as fundamental to supporting body-mind harmony.
